Dr. Johnson, or affectionately known to many as Doc, graduated in 1988 from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. He began practicing in Boone, and on May 3, 2000 opened his own clinic, Animal Hospital of Boone. Dr. Johnson also supports our local rescues and will travel annually to Ocracoke Island, to perform spay and neuter services for feral cats. Doctor Johnson and his wife Mariesa have three children-Kate, Kara and Kevin-and many animals of their own including bunnies, horses, cats and dogs.
Dr. Elizabeth Watson graduated at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, and practiced in the Raleigh area for 15 years before beginning at Animal Hospital of Boone in 2015. Dr.Watson earned her MPH in epidemiology in 2014, from UNC Chapel Hill. Like our other veterinarians here at Animal Hospital of Boone, Dr. Watson enjoys her horses, goats and her beloved Golden Retriever Dylan.
A native of Blowing Rock NC, Dr Chesnutt followed in his father's footsteps to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Chesnutt graduated from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018, and the same year began working at Animal Hospital of Boone. Dr. Chesnutt enjoys spending time outdoors with his girlfriend Lacie and their 2 dogs,Bandit and Jedd, 4 ducks and a kitty named Benji.
Dr. Stephanie graduated at University of Georgia in 2006, and practiced for 3 years in Greenville, South Carolina at a mixed animal practice before changing to a small animal relief service. She and her husband moved to Boone 7 years ago and have 4 wonderful children, ages 3-10 years old. They love to fish, hike, ski and spend time in their garden.
Originally from Delaware, Dr. Jessica Palmer graduated from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. She practiced in eastern NC for three years before joining Animal Hospital of Boone. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, animals, working on art projects, reading, and exploring the High Country!
